Background
SET and MYND domain-containing protein 1 (SMYD1) is a member of the SMYD family of histone methyltransferases that possesses H3K4 methyltransferase activity. It has also been shown to act as a transcriptional repressor. Studies suggest that SMYD1 may play a critical role in cardiomyocyte differentiation and cardiac morphogenesis and that it also may have a function in skeletal muscle development.
Application Notes
Recombinant SMYD1 is suitable for use in the study of enzyme kinetics, inhibitor screening, and selectivity profiling.
Specific Activity: Not known. May methylate non-histone substrates.
Protein Details
Recombinant SMYD1 (accession number NP_938015.1) was expressed in Sf9 cells and contains an N-terminal FLAG-Tag with an observed molecular weight of 58.3 kDa. The recombinant protein is >85% pure by SDS-PAGE.
